Ivy Groves' Purpose
The purpose of Ivy Grove, originally, was to
bring together people who were recovering from
addictions that found that their spiritual life
needed to reflect more of their own personal beliefs
rather than the accepted "12 step" beliefs.
It is a given that all those who participated
also worked a 12 step program but since "the
spiritual life is not a theory" and one has to
live it; the traditional methods were not acceptable
to those of us that followed a pagan path.
The 12
step program has proven its success with many of
us. In examining what worked for us and what did not;
we developed a ritual wiccan practicing group that
followed the Celtic tree
lunar cycle and observed the Sabbaths.
What we integrated from the "program"
was more the 12 traditions since all of us were
already working a step program with help from our
sponsors.
Ivy Grove has these principles:
- All those who desire spiritual group
communion while endeavoring on their own
transformative path may participate in Ivy
Grove upon recommendation of one of its
members.
- There will be no discrimination based on
religious, sexual, or political beliefs. We
are all one as we enter sacred space. All
personal differences and beliefs will be left
outside of the sacred space.
- This is a sharing and learning circle. No one
person knows more or has more educated
experience to advise or judge anothers' path;
therefore this circle has not got a
hierarchal structure and does not initiate.
- Initiation is considered by Nature for the
individual and at the level of understanding
for that particular individual belief system.
- Sharing one's experiences, strengths and
hopes as we individually travel on our paths
is our focus. Lecturing and preaching is not.
- We are all leaders of our own paths and
direct our own innerwork as such.
- We share or pass around the facilitation of
each ritual.
- What we hear and say in sacred space stays in
sacred space and is not to be discussed
outside of the circle.
- Our anonymity is sacred.
- All magical work is for the group conscious,
or for requested healing and does not harm or
control others.
- As nature gives and takes in the perspective
of balance so much our principles in our
living ever seek and understand the need for
that balance.
- As we practice our spiritual life may we give
to the land and to others what was given to
us and taken by us in our transformative
path.
- No skills as learned and given through our
transformative process shall ever be used for
monetary gain in hopes that whoever receives
our gifts will in return give in kindness to
others.
